Hachiman Shrine is located at the southeastern foot of Mt. Yatsuo

Yawata Shrine, located at the southeastern foot of Mt. Yatsuo, which is 345.9m above sea level, can be found on the approach (Literary Path) to the north side of Fuchu Park, a little way up the road on the east side of Kubinashi Jizo. The shrine is said to have been the guardian deity of Yao Castle, but it had fallen into disrepair, so local residents rebuilt the shrine building at its current location. It took 21 years to raise funds and a new building was constructed in 1692, but an even more magnificent main hall was later built, so the old building rebuilt in Genroku was repurposed as the main hall of Tenmangu Shrine and remains to this day. This type of main hall is common in this region, but it is one of the oldest. Many of the original materials remain and the shrine is in good condition.
