A valley upstream of the Nishiki River over the Kintaikyo Bridge
This is a valley located upstream of the Nishiki River, over which the Kintai Bridge crosses. It is located on the Kitani River, which flows down from Heike-ga-take Mountain, and legend has it that it was here that the Heike clan's refugees, who were defeated in the Genpei War, lived. It is also known as Momiji Gorge, and is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage. In the surrounding area, there are Shikaochi Falls, Akataki Falls, Hime-iwa Rock, and other sights, and the scenery woven together with the vibrant autumn foliage creates a beautiful valley that can only be seen at this time of year.
