A Chinese-style garden constructed as a symbol of eternal friendship between Hiroshima and Chongqing, People's Republic of China.
Since Hiroshima City and Chongqing City, People's Republic of China, concluded a friendship city partnership in 1986, they have accumulated exchanges in a wide range of fields, including the environment, medicine, and academia, and the citizens of both cities have deepened their friendship. Yuhua Garden is a Chinese-style garden built as a symbol of eternal friendship to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the friendship city partnership between Hiroshima City and Chongqing City. It opened in March 1992 at the east end of the Karasaya Bridge in Central Park, but was relocated due to the construction of a soccer stadium. Traditional buildings such as corridors, gazebos, and gates, as well as trees and stonework, each have their own unique charm, and visitors can walk around the garden enjoying the scenery throughout the four seasons. Materials (pillars, stone paving, roof tiles, etc.) used in Yuhua Garden before the relocation were repaired and reused as much as possible. The color (reddish brown) of the buildings at the time of Yuhua Garden's construction is reproduced.
