A panoramic view of Hiroshima city and the sea! A viewing spot with the historic ruins of a mountain castle, cherry blossoms, and a beautiful night view

This 221-meter-high mountain towers over the southeastern part of Hiroshima City. Formerly known as Nihoshima, this island in Hiroshima Bay boasts a history dating back to the Sengoku period, when a mountain castle was built here as a strategic location for watching over the sea.

From the observation deck at the summit, visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of Hiroshima's cityscape and the calm Seto Inland Sea. It offers one of the city's best panoramas, and has long been a popular spot for enjoying the open, expansive scenery.

One of the reasons so many people visit is its convenient access, about a 10-minute drive from National Route 2. It's also possible to hike the mountain, enjoying the sea breeze as you make your way to the summit in about 50 minutes.

There are multiple observation decks. From the parking lot, you can enjoy the ocean view of the Hiroshima Bridge and Kaita Bridge lit up in orange from the left, and the vibrant neon lights of the city from the right. In particular, about 30 minutes after sunset, when the sky changes from crimson to a deep blue, you can enjoy the atmospheric scenery as the city lights begin to come on, and the area is also known as a famous night view spot.
In spring, approximately 400 cherry trees decorate the hiking trail, making it a famous Hiroshima spot perfect for spending a peaceful holiday, whether it's for a family stroll or a drive.
