The highest peak on Ninoshima Island in the southwest of Hiroshima Bay.It has an elegant appearance and is perfect for beginners in mountain climbing.

Elevation: 278m Ninoshima is located southwest of Hiroshima Bay, and is an island blessed with nature with a circumference of 16km, where Aki-Kofuji stands to the north and Shimotakayama to the south. Until about 15,000 years ago, the area around Ninoshima was still land, and it seems that there were also Naumann's elephants. After that, the original shape of the island as it is today was formed around 6,000 years ago due to the inflow of seawater. It is said that people began to settle on this island around 360 years ago, around the beginning of the Edo period, and sardine fishing was popular offshore. This island played an important role in wars for a long time from the Meiji period to the end of the Pacific War. We are required to continue to protect the precious nature of this island, including those military legacies. Aki-Kofuji, the highest peak on the island, has an elegant appearance similar to Mount Fuji, and the mountain forest is designated as a special area of the Seto Inland Sea National Park and a scenic forest by the Forestry Agency. There are clusters of mimosa along the hiking trail, making it an ideal mountain for beginners. Several hiking routes offer a variety of panoramic views, including a panoramic view of Hiroshima city.
