The origin of the romantic name and the history of old battles remain.

Mt. Kogane, with an altitude of 221.7m, is a small mountain located southeast of Hiroshima City, and was once called Nihojima, an island floating in Hiroshima Bay. During the Muromachi period, Niho Castle was built on the summit of the mountain at an altitude of 221.7 meters. It is also a place where the history of old battles remains. Kannon-ji Temple, located on the north side of Mt. Kogane, was built as the family temple of Mototada Miura, who was entrusted with guarding Niho Castle during the Mori clan era. The mountain name of this temple is ``Koganeyama,'' and it is said that this is the first place name of Mt. Kogane. In the old days, Mt. Kogane used to have a fire lit at the top of the mountain and emit smoke for the safety of ships sailing offshore. There are many theories such as the theory that the fire was so golden that it scorched the sky, and the theory that the sunset light over the island appeared to shine golden.
