A sunken garden built for friendship and exchange with Hannover, Germany, which shares the desire for peace.

This garden was created in 1980 for the purpose of goodwill and cultural exchange from the common desire for peace between Hiroshima City and Hanover City in West Germany, which had risen from the complete destruction in the Second World War. It is a submerged garden that imitates a part of the flower bed of "Helenhausen Park". This garden represents the city's coat of arms.
