Mihara City developed as a castle town associated with the Kobayakawa clan. Mihara City is also one of the leading octopus producing areas in the Seto Inland Sea, and the octopus raised in the waters of Mihara is characterized by its firm texture and rich flavor that you can chew. The tourist information center inside JR Mihara Station provides information on restaurants that serve delicious octopus dishes and local sake, and you can also experience making daruma dolls, a long-loved item in Mihara, at the Daruma Workshop inside the station.
