10 minutes by train from Hiroshima Station. Why don't you go looking for the remnants of the Edo period that floats in the present age?

During the Edo period, the Early Modern Sanyo Road (also known as the Saigoku Kaido) was developed as an important road linking Kyoto and Shimonoseki. Post stations, mileposts, and roadside pine trees were established on this road, where feudal lords on their way to Edo for alternate attendance, as well as many travelers and merchants, would have bustled about. Even today, you can see traces of that time in the streets and alleys.
