A shrine that is loved by the people of Uoshima
After passing through a quiet approach about 100m from the torii gate, you will come across a magnificent shrine made entirely of cypress wood with a copper roof. Uojima has almost no flat land, and the flat ground of over 8,000m2 conveys the prosperity of Uojima and the faith of its people to this day. Within the shrine grounds is a pagoda with distinctive features from the late Kamakura period that is a nationally designated important cultural property and is said to be the grave of Shinozuka Iga no Kami, a military commander from the Nanboku-cho period.
