A Kaiten replica is displayed at the site of the former Kaiten base.
During the Pacific War, the former navy built a submarine school in this area, which later became a training base for the underwater special attack unit and the Kaiten human torpedo. The Atada Communication Center, built in one corner of the site, displays related materials and relics, as well as a life-size replica that was used in the filming of the movie "Ocean with No Exit." In addition, part of the fuselage of a real Kaiten is on display below the Hirao Town History and Folklore Museum.
