Designated as a "National Natural Monument" in 1935, the powerful "Ohira Sakura"
The tree is estimated to be about 660 years old, with branches stretching 24m east to west and 29.6m north to south. It is a rare variety of cherry tree called "Misumi Ohirazakura" that has both the characteristics of Higanzakura and Yamazakura, and is designated as a national natural monument. The "Ohira Sakura Festival" is held every year, and many people visit from inside and outside the prefecture.
