A rare scenic spot where you can observe the sea floor from 16 million years ago

Iwami Tatamigaura is a designated national natural monument. Once you pass through the tunnel, you can walk through layers of rock from approximately 16 million years ago. There, you can see countless shell and whale fossils, as well as a world that is normally invisible, such as bench-shaped rocks (nodules) formed by wave erosion and traces of magma. As the Nomura Namigai fossils are in the shape of a heart, it is said that finding three of them will bring you good fortune, making the area popular as a "power spot for love."
