A brick building that preserves the memory of the Ushida Water Purification Plant, which was exposed to the atomic bomb.
In line with the development of the military water supply, a method that was rare nationwide of connecting the city water supply to military iron pipes was adopted, and Ushida Water Purification Plant was established in 1898 (Meiji 31). A triple steam room and a pump house approximately 16 meters high were constructed. In 1924, a brick roof was completed for the reinforced concrete water pumps and filter basin regulator, and in 1935, a reinforced concrete water measuring room was completed. The atomic bomb occurred 2.77 kilometers from the hypocenter, causing extensive damage including the collapse of wooden buildings. Currently, only one building remains, the filter basin regulator roof, which is made of English bond bricks with granite inserted in stripes.
