A shrine that withstood the atomic bombing and remains to this day, affectionately known locally as Obata Shrine.

Located at the foot of the mountain in Kitaokawacho, Minami Ward, Mahata Shrine is affectionately known locally as Oubansha. It was built around 1930 (Showa 5). On August 6, 1945 (Showa 20), the atomic bomb was dropped on the shrine, 3.44 kilometers from the hypocenter. *For inquiries about Mahata Shrine (Oubansha), please contact Nihohime Shrine (082-281-4538).
