Atop a small hill with a view from Hiroshima Bay to the epicenter of the atomic bombing A shrine that has remained in existence since 2000 after the atomic bombing

Otoshi Shrine in Takasu, Nishi Ward, is located on a small hill overlooking Hiroshima Bay. It was built in 1845 (the 2nd year of the Koka era), and still exudes a sense of history. On August 6, 1945 (Showa 20), the shrine was hit by the atomic bomb 3.64 kilometers from the hypocenter. As it was on high ground with a clear view of the hypocenter, it was directly exposed to the blast.
