Weeping willow (Tsurumi Bridge east end) (A-bombed tree)

Although the upper part of the trunk is lost, new buds grow and branches spread.

The weeping willow tree at the east end of Tsurumibashi Bridge, located right next to the Hiroshima Electric Railway "Hijiyamashita" station, was hit by the bomb 1,700 meters from the hypocenter. The trunk, which had lost its upper part and was drooping, died, but new shoots grew from the same roots and are now spreading out widely.
