The grave of Ueda Osei, who spread Shin-Confucianism in Hiroshima

Confucianism in Hiroshima began with the spread of Shu-Confucianism by Horikyoan (1585-1642), a disciple of Fujiwara Seika. Other schools of thought spread within the domain a little later than this, and Shinjugaku (Shinjugaku) (Suika Shinto), introduced by Ueda Osei, was one of them. Nariaki's real name was Nariaki, and he was born in Kyoto in 1651. It is said that he had already taught the books of the 100 schools of Moroshi when he was 17 years old, and at the age of 19 he became a disciple of Ansai Yamazaki. In 1682, he was invited to Hiroshima by his fellow student Masakazu Narazaki, but he learned that his teacher Ansai was in critical condition.
