A literary monument inscribed with a passage from a literary work based on his own experience of the atomic bombing.
Yoko Ota (1903-1963) was a writer born in Hiroshima City, and was exposed to the atomic bomb in Hakushima, Hiroshima. Her first work, "City of Corpses," was based on her own experience of the bombing. This literary monument, erected in 1978, is made up of 15 large and small natural stones, one of which is engraved with a passage from "City of Corpses." "The girls walked along screaming like they were singing, 'We will be burned by the heavens, we will be burned by the heavens.'"
