A mural depicting the atmosphere of the castle town commemorating the 400th anniversary of the construction of Hiroshima Castle

This mural was planned in 1989 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the construction of Hiroshima Castle. As Hiroshima Detention House is located in the area of what was once a samurai residence within Hiroshima Castle, the atmosphere of a castle town from the Edo period is recreated across a length of approximately 2 meters and 180 meters. It was created by Hiroshima-based painter Irino Tadayoshi, and comprehensive restoration and restoration began in 2009, 20 years after its completion, and was completed in 2013.
