Nittsuji Temple

This Hokke sect temple, which has ties to the Asano domain, was built in 1695 by the fourth domain lord, Tsunaga, at the request of the wife of the second Asano domain lord, Mitsuakira, Manhime (Jishoin, granddaughter of Maeda Toshiie), in her later years. Manhime was born into the Kaga Maeda family and married into the Asano family as the adopted daughter of Tokugawa Iemitsu, and was also known as Kaga Gozen. The plum blossom crest water basin next to the main hall is decorated with the family crest of the Kaga Maeda family, Manhime's birth family, testifying to her connection to the Kaga Maeda clan.
