A shopping street where you can meet the God of Riches where the Mint is located

In the 1960s, Itsukaichi developed significantly as a commuter town for Hiroshima City. Year after year, more and more shops opened between the tracks of the Japanese National Railways (now JR) and Hiroshima Electric Railway and the Mint Bureau. In the 1970s, the role of this area as the central base of Itsukaichi became increasingly important, and with the opening of Izumi in 1977, the predecessor of the Coin Street Shopping District, the Itsukaichi Chuo Street Shopping District, was formed with the aim of coexistence and co-prosperity between large stores and local stores, and shopping district activities began to develop. In the 1990s, large stores opened one after another in the surrounding areas, and consumer trends gradually changed. In order to respond to such circumstances, the organization was incorporated as the Coin Street Shopping District Promotion Association in 1990 with the aim of further promoting the activities of the shopping district and contributing to the development of the region, and began working on a CI formulation project in 1991. After considering the opinions of many people, the street was given the nickname "Hana Happy Coin Street" and apricots and dogwoods, which bloom in different seasons, were selected as street trees. Taking advantage of the fact that the shopping street is home to the Mint Bureau, the street is promoting "town development where you can meet the God of Money" by setting up money luck spots such as Kanemochi Inari Taisha and Kanemochi Shrine, and good luck monuments.
