The only Sanmon gate that survived the collapse of Meisenji Temple, which was exposed to the atomic bomb.
Myosenji Temple, located on the north side of Hijiyama, was hit by the atomic bomb 1.90 kilometers from the hypocenter. The only thing that escaped the atomic bomb was the mountain gate, while the main hall and the temple kitchen were reduced to just pillars and beams. There were three people in the temple who were fortunately safe. They apparently spent some time there gazing at the moon through the gaping roof. It was decided that the mountain gate would be preserved as the symbol of Myosenji Temple, but due to the redevelopment project in Danbara, it was moved approximately 15 meters south in 1995 (Heisei 7).
