The residence of the Dewa clan. Yamashiro ruins are the largest in the county.
It is said to have been built by the Dewa clan during the Kamakura period and is one of the largest in the prefecture. The current layout was extensively renovated during the Eiroku era when Motonari Mori's sixth son, Mototsugu, was adopted by the Dewa clan. It was often used as a headquarters by the Ouchi and Mori clans.
