The auditorium, completed in 1927 (Showa 2), is a classical style reinforced concrete structure, and as it was located directly in front of the main gate, it became the symbol of the school. With its excellent acoustics, it was not only used as a venue for student club activities, but NHK also frequently broadcast live recitals and other events there. The school was hit by the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945, 2.69 kilometers from the hypocenter. The wooden main building and other buildings were partially destroyed, but the reinforced concrete auditorium, library, and chemistry classrooms suffered only damage to the windows. It is still used for school events today.
