Travel back in time surrounded by old tools and create an original letterpress notebook

This is a letterpress printing experience where you can print your favorite illustrations and letters side by side. You can experience the whole process of letterpress printing, from "collecting type" to pick up letters like Giovanni in "Night on the Galactic Railroad" by Kenji Miyazawa, "typesetting" to arrange the letters and lay them out, and "printing" using a manual letterpress printing machine. Don't worry, our staff will help you create a wonderful work. The store is filled with many types and tools donated from all over Japan. Enjoy playing with the types while listening to the sound of the trains running nearby, feeling like you've traveled back in time. It's recommended as a memory of your trip, a special day, or a gift. (The above content is for "Course B | Making an A5 Notebook" currently accepting applications on the official website.) Letterpress printing is a technique in which each "type" with characters shaped like a stamp is lined up to create a plate, and ink is applied to the uneven surface to transfer the print to paper. It spread around the world when the Bible was printed in Germany in the 15th century, and in Japan it is said to have reached its peak around 1965-1975. In recent years, paper with a texture that is created by applying pressure and has a strong unevenness has become popular, and people enjoy the texture and the blurred and smudged patterns. About Letterpress Campanella This is a small store that handles letterpress printing and miscellaneous goods in Onomichi, a city of sea and hills. It opened in 2016 after renovating an old house in the Yamate area, where the traditional scenery typical of Onomichi remains. In addition to letterpress paper items, accessories made by individual artists are also on sale. We hold printing experiences that anyone can enjoy from time to time, hoping that it will be an opportunity to experience the fun of design and manufacturing. Notes 1. We recommend that you wear clothes with no puffy hems or sleeves. 2. We recommend that you have short nails. Please note that long nails may make the work difficult or damage the design, as you will be using your fingertips to pick up type. 3. Reservations are prioritized for the experience. Please apply using the reservation form on the store's website.
