It was used as wrapping paper to wrap gifts for the leaders of each country at the G7 Summit!
Aji washi paper is a specialty of the Kyowa area of Fuchu City, and production began in the early Edo period. It was known for its high quality and reached its peak from the end of the Meiji period to the Taisho and Showa periods. However, the tradition was lost when producers disappeared, but the Kyowa Genki Center, run by local residents, has revived it. It has received the "Discover the Treasures of Rural Areas" Encouragement Award from the Chugoku-Shikoku Regional Agricultural Administration Office! It will also be used as wrapping paper for gifts to the leaders of each country at the 2023 G7 Hiroshima Summit.
