Mount Kyogoya, 596m above sea level, provides a backdrop for Miyahama Onsen. It is difficult to reach the summit unless you are in good condition, but if you do a half trek to the 270m midpoint, it can be climbed in about an hour. As you climb with a local guide, you will not only be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the calm Ono Seto Strait and Miyajima, but you will also be able to enjoy a local bento lunch and grilled oysters. On your way back, you can enjoy coffee from a local roaster and Japanese sweets from a famous Japanese confectionery shop at a spot that Miyajihama is proud of.
