The second Peace Bell was donated to Hiroshima City by the Hiroshima Copper Alloy Casting Association, and was designed to send a message of peace from Hiroshima to the whole world.

The "Peace Bell" is rung at the Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 6th, and the bell currently being rung is the fifth generation. The second Peace Bell, rung at the 3rd Peace Festival (Peace Memorial Ceremony) held in Central Park in 1949, still stands near Hanover Garden. The second Peace Bell was donated to Hiroshima City by the Hiroshima Copper Alloy Casting Association, and was made into a bell-shaped bell to send a message of peace from Hiroshima to the whole world. It is engraved with the words "NO MORE HIROSHIMAS" in English and the flapping wings of a dove, a symbol of peace. It is 1.2m in diameter, 1.4m tall, and weighs 800kg.
