[History] This monument was erected to commemorate the 163 victims of the Chugoku Electric Power Distribution Co., Ltd. (now Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc.) head office, which was located 680 meters from the hypocenter, as well as all 278 employees of the Electric Power Bureau, branches, and other companies who were in Hiroshima on a business trip at the time of the bombing and lost their lives.
