Every year on August 1st, a memorial ceremony is held by the three school district social welfare councils in the Ushida area.

[Date of Construction] 1950 [Erected by] Mr. Kuriji Ninto [History] The Ushida area suffered severe damage from the atomic bomb, with approximately half of the area's residents killed or injured. Many victims evacuated from the city center, and countless bodies were washed ashore by the rising tide. It is said that more than 700 victims were cremated in this area. A memorial tower was erected in 1950 to commemorate these victims. A memorial monument was subsequently erected in 1969, and a Kannon statue was erected in 1970. A memorial ceremony is held every year on August 1st by the social welfare councils of the three school districts in the Ushida area.
