Joint Memorial Monument for Doctors and Medical Staff Fallen in the Line of Duty

The monument represents a "hand growing from the earth."

[Date of erection] August 1960 [Erected by] Hiroshima City Medical Association [History] Towards the end of the war, many of the medical staff in Hiroshima, including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and nurses, were sacrificed because they were prohibited from evacuating outside the city. As doctors are called "Kunite," the monument represents "hands growing from the earth."
