It was built to commemorate the approximately 500 employees of postal services, including the Hiroshima Post Office, which was located directly under the hypocenter.

The monument is surrounded by a pond, which represents the memory of those who sought water. In front of the monument, part of the stairs that were in the entrance hall of the old building, which was bombed, has been preserved. There are also other monuments to commemorate the victims of Hiroshima Post Office employees: the "Hiroshima Post Office Employees' Memorial (Naka-ku)" and the "Hiroshima Post Office Atomic Bomb Marties' Memorial (Minami-ku). *Open to the public on company holidays (Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, etc.). Viewing hours are 9:00am - 5:45pm
