Monument for members of the Ministry of Water Resources who died in the line of duty

The atomic bomb destroyed the building and killed all the employees inside, taking the lives of 83 of the 186 employees in the Waterworks Department.

The atomic bomb destroyed the office building and killed all employees inside, taking the lives of 83 of the 186 Waterworks Department employees. The waterworks facilities also suffered extensive damage, but thanks to the employees' tireless efforts to make emergency repairs, a water outage was avoided throughout the city. Hiroshima's waterworks continues to uphold this record of uninterrupted water supply to this day.
