The monument was erected to commemorate the many people who lost their lives, including the soldiers who were stationed on campus at the time of the bombing.
[Date of erection] July 1981 [Erected by] Volunteers from the former Noborimachi National School teaching staff and alumni, and the former security guard association [History] At the time, Noborimachi National School (now Noborimachi Elementary School) was located in the area where the monument stands (1.1 kilometers from the hypocenter), south of the current elementary school site (in 1949, Noborimachi Elementary School was moved to its current location). The monument was erected to commemorate the many people who lost their lives, including the soldiers who were stationed on the school grounds at the time of the bombing.
