The atomic bomb killed 34 of the 260 employees that day.
[Date of erection] March 22, 1966 [Erected by] NHK Hiroshima Broadcasting Station [History] At the time, the Hiroshima Central Broadcasting Station (now NHK Hiroshima Broadcasting Station) building was located in Kami-nagarikawa-cho (now Nobori-cho, 1 kilometer from the hypocenter). 34 of the 260 employees were killed that day by the atomic bomb. The broadcasting station was also devastated by the bombing, but resumed broadcasting the following day using facilities that had survived the disaster. The building was relocated to Otemachi in 1960. The monument was moved to its current location in 1994 when the building was rebuilt.
