On that day, 209 of the 451 people working at the office were killed. The building was completely burned down, leaving only the framework, but it was renovated and continued to be used. When the building was rebuilt, the bereaved families and employees requested that part of the building be preserved, and a wall and monument were erected with 104 tiles that had been exposed to the atomic bomb that had been used on the roof of the old office building. In addition, there is a monument to the victims of telegraph and telephone-related work, the "Telegraph and Telephone Employees Atomic Bomb Victims Memorial" (Naka Ward), and a memorial service is held in front of the monument every year.
