The bodies of several thousand atomic bomb victims from the Honkawa area were brought to Honkawa Elementary School, and their cremated remains were buried in an air-raid shelter located here and then placed in the Atomic Bomb Memorial Mound in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
[Date of erection] August 6, 1957 [Erected by] Volunteers from the Honkawa school district [History] The bodies of several thousand atomic bomb victims from the Honkawa area were gathered at Honkawa National School (now Honkawa Elementary School), and the cremated remains were buried in an air raid shelter on this site, and then placed in the Atomic Bomb Memorial Tower in the Peace Memorial Park. The monument was erected to commemorate this place for a long time and to console the souls of the victims.
