Hiroshima City Junior High School Staff and Student Memorial Monument

In 1948, a monument was erected at Sankoji Temple (Koamicho), near the building evacuation work site, to commemorate the victims. In 1975, it was moved from the temple to its current location, and the inscription "Commemoration" and other items were added.

[Date of construction] August 6, 1948 [Builder] Hiroshima Municipal Junior High School Survivors' Association and Alumni Association [History] Approximately 370 students from Hiroshima Municipal Junior High School (now Motomachi High School) were killed, including first and second year students who were working on building evacuation in Koamicho (900 meters from the hypocenter).
