Monument to Nippon Life Insurance Company employees who died in the line of duty

The names of the 28 victims are inscribed on the back of the monument.

[Date of erection] 1949 [Erected by] All staff members of the Nippon Life Insurance Hiroshima branch [History] At the time, the Nippon Life Insurance Hiroshima branch was located in Otemachi 2-chome (180 meters from the hypocenter), which was developing as Hiroshima's financial district. The building was destroyed in the atomic bombing, and 28 employees of Nippon Life were killed. After the company building was rebuilt in the same location in 1948, a monument was erected to commemorate the victims. Later, when the company building was relocated, it was moved to its current location in 2006. The names of the 28 victims are inscribed on the back of the monument.
