Hiroshima Prefectural Government Employees' Memorial Monument for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb

Next to the monument is a memorial plaque listing the names of the 1,134 victims.

[Date of erection] August 6, 1958 [Erected by] Hiroshima Prefecture [History] At the time, the area where the monument was erected was home to the Hiroshima Prefectural Office (850 meters from the hypocenter) and Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital. The wooden Hiroshima Prefectural Office building instantly collapsed and burned down due to the atomic bomb, and many of the employees were killed instantly or burned to death after being crushed by the collapsed debris. Next to the monument is a memorial monument inscribed with the names of the 1,134 victims.
