[Date of erection] August 7, 1995 [Erected by] Eba District Social Welfare Council [History] In the Eba district, in addition to the students and volunteer corps who were mobilized to the city center and died, it is said that more than 10,000 victims who fled the city center or were swept away by the river were cremated. In order to commemorate these victims, a wooden monument was erected by the Eba District Social Welfare Council in 1993, and a memorial service was held. Later, before the 50th anniversary of the bombing, there was a growing call to erect a proper monument to prevent the fact that these events occurred in Eba from being forgotten, and a statue was erected on the site of the wooden monument. In addition, there is a monument to commemorate the victims of the Eba district residents, the "Eba District War Dead Memorial Monument" (Naka Ward).
