A monument shaped like a mushroom cloud

To commemorate these victims, a stone monument shaped like a mushroom cloud was erected. Next to the monument is a monument bearing a poem by Yasuo Yamamoto, "The sorrows of so many who died in the atomic bombing never cease, just like yesterday." Every year on August 6th, a lantern float ceremony is held in the river next to the monument to commemorate the dead.
