Kannon East District Atomic Bomb Victims Memorial Monument

Many residents of the Kannon Higashi district were mobilized to help with building evacuation efforts in the city center and fell victim to the atomic bomb. This monument was erected to commemorate these people and other victims in the district.

[Date of erection] August 19, 1961 [Erected by] Kannoncho, Kannonhoncho 1-chome and 2-chome, Higashikannoncho neighborhood associations [History] Many residents of the Kannon East district were sent to the city center to help with building evacuation, and fell victim to the atomic bomb. This monument was erected to commemorate these people and other victims in the district (rebuilt on July 5, 1970). There is another monument to commemorate the victims of the Kannon East district, the "Kannon East District Residents' Memorial Monument" (Nishi Ward), just like this one.
