[Date of construction] April 1953 [Established by] Hiroshima Jogakuin [History] 350 first and second year students from Jogakuin Girls' High School were working on dismantling buildings in Zakoba-cho (now Kokutaiji-cho 1-chome, 1.2 km from the hypocenter) when the bomb was dropped, and most of them were killed or injured. The monument, inscribed with a verse from the Bible, is in the shape of a cross.
