Behind the monument is a memorial stone with the names of 12 staff members and 354 students inscribed on it.
[Date of construction] August 6, 1948 [Constructor] First Junior High School Survivors Association [History] Approximately 150 first-year students of Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima First Junior High School (now Hiroshima Kokutaiji High School) were killed in the bombing while working on building evacuation on the south side of the school (Zakoba-cho, now Kokutaiji-cho 1-chome, 1.2 km from the hypocenter). The remaining 150 first-year students were exposed to the bomb while waiting inside the school building (about 900 meters from the hypocenter), and most of them were killed. In addition, about 50 third-year students were killed in the bombing while working on building evacuation near Dobashi (about 800 meters from the hypocenter). In addition, 9 students from other grades were also killed.
