The names of the three teachers and 41 students who died are inscribed on the back of the monument.
[Date of Construction] August 1976 [Constructor] Senda National School Survivors Association [History] Due to an air raid warning being issued late at night on the 5th, the start time for remaining students at Senda National School (now Senda Elementary School) who had not been evacuated was delayed by 30 minutes to 9:00 AM. As a result, only a dozen students were in school at the time of the bombing. Meanwhile, the upper grade students (equivalent to today's first and second year junior high school students) were killed in the bombing while working on building evacuation in Zakoba-cho (now Kokutaiji-cho 1-chome, 1.2 km from the hypocenter). The names of the three teachers and 41 students who perished are inscribed on the back of the monument.
