The monument incorporates bombed bricks as well as bombed stones from the former Hiroshima City Hall building.

[Date of construction] October 16, 1993 [Constructors] Volunteers from the third year of Shudo Junior High School at the time of the bombing [History] Approximately 140 third year students from Shudo Junior High School were mobilized to work at the Hiroshima Army Ordnance Supply Depot (Hiroshima Army Ordnance Depot at the time of completion, 2.8 km from the hypocenter) when the bombing occurred, and three of them were killed. Mr. Hirayama, who wrote the inscription on the monument, was also one of the students who was exposed to the bombing. In February 1993, the last warehouse of the former Army Ordnance Depot was demolished, and the third year students at the time came up with the idea of building a monument to preserve the bricks of the warehouse, which were full of memories, and to convey the importance of peace to future generations as a testament to the bombing. The completed monument incorporates the exposed bricks as well as the exposed stones from the former Hiroshima City Hall building. *Please contact us in advance if you wish to visit (please call 082-241-8291 with the desired date and time of the visit, the representative's name, the number of visitors, and contact information).
