Memorial monument for staff and students of Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial School

[Date of construction] September 30, 1961 (Showa 36) [Constructor] Atomic Bomb Memorial Monument Construction Committee (Association of bereaved families, Alumni Association) [History] All the students in class 3 of the second year at Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima Commercial School were killed in the bombing while passing near Tsuchibashi (800 meters from the hypocenter) on their way to evacuate buildings from the factory where they had been mobilized. Class 1 of the fourth year was also killed in the bombing while preparing to help evacuate buildings in Zakoba-cho (now Kokutaiji-cho 1-chome, 1.2 kilometers from the hypocenter), resulting in many casualties.
