Hiroshima Municipal Girls' High School Staff and Students Atomic Bomb Memorial Monument

The monument was erected at Jimyoin Temple in 1951 by the Hiroshima City Women's Atomic Bomb Survivors' Association, and was moved to its current location in 1966.

[Date of construction] August 6, 1951 [Constructor] Hiroshima City Girls' Atomic Bomb Survivors' Association [History] All staff and students of Hiroshima City First Girls' High School (now Funairi High School) were killed in the bombing while working on building evacuation in Kobiki-cho (now Nakajima-cho, 500 meters from the hypocenter). After the war, the head priest of Jimyo-in Temple, located near the evacuation site, discovered the remains of the victims and placed them in the temple for a memorial service. As a result, a monument was erected at Jimyo-in Temple by the Hiroshima City Girls' Atomic Bomb Survivors' Association in 1951, and was moved there when the temple moved to its current location in 1966. There is also another monument, the "Hiroshima City Girls' Atomic Bomb Survivors' Association" (Naka Ward), to commemorate the victims, including staff and students of Hiroshima City First Girls' High School.
